Chasing after a dream, traces the lives of Jeffrey and Sally, two characters who come from differente social backgrounds, but share the same determination to improve their situation. We meet them both when they are in their twenties, at the time when Jeffrey, an orphan who up at that time has been living in poverty and crime, decides to perpetrate one last robbery in order to acquire money to buy his passage to a new country where he will start afresh.
Jeffrey's and Sally's paths intersect at a crucial point in their lives, when both have suffered setbacks and disapointments after making mistakes. They meet by chance and are attracted to one another.
However, there is a good reason why they cannot be a couple. In fact; Jeffrey's affairs take a turn for the worse and he has to leave Sally precipitately to join the ship that will take him in a wonder-filled journey across Southern Africa.
